DEDICATED TO THE OLD WAYS
Dedicated to the Old Ways is a photographic exploration of contemporary medievalism as lived practice. The work focuses on musicians, artists, and solitary figures within the dungeon synth community and its surrounding culture—individuals who deliberately turn away from modern acceleration toward ruins, forests, and handmade environments shaped by myth, ritual, and imagination.
I spent two years documenting this community across eight countries. Working primarily in rural and historically charged landscapes, the photographs consider dungeon synth not simply as a musical genre, but as a broader cultural orientation—one rooted in withdrawal, material engagement, and the use of the past as a framework for contemporary life.
This work is being developed into a monograph.
